A complete waste of time and money. Echoed by others on here, I’ve no idea what I just watched. The first battle scene has countless flaws in it such as the boats having to get right up against the wall initially, only for the following scene to show them wading chest high I water with a beach behind them? The General running up the ladder and throwing his helmet off in the middle of a battle was also ludicrous. Never mind when the suddenly spawned come through the gates, not coming down the stairs?? The multiple Gladiator fights are a joke. Don’t get me started on the CGI alien dog monkeys that Lucius fights in the arena, or the Gladiator riding a Rhino like some well trained horse in one of the fights too. I could go on and on with problems with the movie here but the final scene of Lucius somehow managing to escape the Colosseum, grab a horse and charge through a legion of troops with nobody stopping him to fight Denzel on a bridge between the two armies actually made me laugh out loud in the theatre. For me, the first Gladiator is a masterclass of balancing historical accuracy with a gripping storyline. Gladiator 2 is a carbon copy of the first with an empty plot and poor acting throughout, it doesn’t resemble anything even close to a believable or worthwhile story. Save your money please.
