Many people highly recommended this show to me. Many people love this show. I have watched most of it out of a need to finish it, more than finding it enjoyable. It is gross. They’re supposed to be a family from Scottish and English parents, but they have all the character of harsh New Yorkers. My own father was fairly successful in business, so my thoughts while watching often go to what his thoughts would be about Succession. He would probably see Logan as somewhat believable, but the incompetent kids being allowed to run or represent parts of the company, he would not find believable. Because even spoiled horrible children of the uber successful do not present as mumbling and insecure as Kendall or as exaggerated caricatures of crass twerps like Roman. The two are overtly over exaggerated. Greg and Tom’s characters are also just too much with their constant stammering and stumbling speech and insecure behavior. Siobhan is a fairly believable character, except her marriage to the goober-ish Tom and obsessive need to be involved in the family firm. Siobhan’s type is one who separates herself to have an independent career and stays out of the Firm permanently. She would not marry a beta male like Tom. The whole show feels like it’s portraying a New York and LA type of family. The whole premise of the British parents makes no sense. All the characters are just completely cartoonish in how over the top they are played, which takes away from the quality of the show. It could have been smarter; much more subtle. But then it probably would not have been wildly successful and profitable. If you want to watch a bunch of insanely wealthy people be stressed out, curse constantly, backstab each other, and be completely ungrateful while in the lap of luxury and beauty, then this is the show for you.
