I saw this movie as a kid back in the 60s. It left such an impression on me, how someone could pretend to be righteous, but be so evil. I never forgot it. This compelling movie was way ahead of its time.

I'm really disappointed so far. There has been very little character development, the story bounces around way too much & the acting (for the most part) seems rushed through. I was really looking forward to a deep dive into one of my favorite books of all time. The mini-series from the 1990s was better than this remake. The book provided a depth & powerful human study with rich characters, epic struggles and true suspense. This remake isn't even lukewarm.
