A movie that is essential viewing. It’s certainly of its time, but the writing and performances still shine. Bogart, Bergman and Nazis are the perfect cocktail. The supporting performances by Rains, Lorre and Greenstreet are classic.

I would say this film is pretentious, but it’s too vacuous to rate even that comment..
More could have been done with the concept, I guess. But it would need a complete re-write, to say the least.
