It’s incredibly disappointing to see yet another show fall into the same tired, harmful trope of portraying a visibly Muslim woman specifically a hijabi as a terrorist. In Bodyguard, the decision to depict a hijabi character as someone willing to blow up a train is not only offensive, but also irresponsible. Muslim women already face immense scrutiny and discrimination, and media portrayals like this only deepen public suspicion and fuel Islamophobia. It’s lazy storytelling that sacrifices truth and nuance for shock value. We need representation that reflects the real lives, struggles, and humanity of Muslim women not one-dimensional stereotypes recycled for drama.
