This movie was very good, besides what the bad reviews say. It’s an interesting story with some emotional parts. The action scenes are great and the animation is beautiful. There are parts of the story that I think could’ve been better (SPOILER: I personally did not like how Zurg is just a future evil Buzz, it’s lazy writing.) But overall I enjoyed the film. Some are upset with the lesbian couple that are in the movie for less than like 2 minutes. It’s truly not a big deal, and does not make the film terrible. I mean there are adult jokes that go right over kids head, but apparently those aren’t a big deal. I promise it will not “influence” your kid. Some wonder why put that in if it doesn’t matter to the story, the answer is that it doesn’t always need to be the main focus of a character or story. The main point of it all was to show how she was living this whole life, and Buzz was only there in glimpses. He only saw snapshots of her life. “Well why didn’t they just use a straight couple?” I mean would it really have mattered if they did? Would it bring more to the story? Or less? Either way it doesn’t matter. The movie also had some great humor and we also saw the character of Buzz grow. Not disappointed.

The movie was okay. I read the book for an English class. I know movies are never like the books and I can appreciate the writers for the movie switching things up. But the movie is not that interesting. It’s very quick paced with little to no action. The book had way more action than the movie did. The main villain comes out of nowhere and it’s hard to find the central conflict. Tom (the main character, also known as iBoy) is a decent character, but his powers are not as exciting as they should be. He is basically just a hacker. In the book he was more of a superhero. I do like the chemistry between the characters, and the acting is excellent. The movie is fairly short, and it could have been longer, allowing for more of a buildup and action. The climax is very weak. This movie is a let down for those who read the book, but it might be fairly decent to those who haven’t read the book. With better writing and more action this movie could’ve been better.
