This is definitely not a movie I’d watch with anyone else. I can understand why people wouldn’t like it or understand it, but I think it displays a reality a lot of kids go through nowadays. It’s unclear to me if she has some sort of mental issue or if she’s just a neglected child trying to find sanity in loneliness. Maybe it’s a bit of both. Humans will go insane from isolation and to me it seemed like she was grabbing onto anything to feel something. Some sort of connection to the world. But eventually she got lost in the sauce and had her breakdown. Some kids watch Barbie and some watch freaky YouTube videos. I liked the slow pace of the movie, it felt very unsettling and had me on the edge of my seat at times. That being said, y’all could’ve definitely shortened it. That asmr scene almost had me asleep. If this movie teaches you anything, check on your damn kids and don’t leave them alone with their imagination and a gun.
Spoilers:
(I had conflicting feelings about her relationship with the older man. On one hand, he very well could have saved her from suicide and brought her back to reality, on the other he seems very weird and his intentions are unclear. The way he talked about touching her made me uncomfy. It could be that she was looking for a parent figure and maybe he was looking for some sort of child to take care of. As a teenager, I think it’s a discussion that will take me many years to fully understand) (also this whole review may sound confusing but that’s because I’m trying to shorten my thoughts so you guys don’t have to read a 20 page essay)
