Formulaic. Every straight white male (except for Calvin Evans) is a villain or a pansy. The only virtuous or sympathetic male characters are black or gay. Ever heard of nuance? This show tries so hard to be important and provocative that it takes liberties with the book just to be able to do so. It’s insulting to its audience.
