(SPOILERS) The movie had some amazing comedy that had me laughing out loud in theatres, and both Margo Robbie's and Ryan Gosling's performances were amazing. However, I was disappointed by the ending and the theme that it tells. At the end of the movie, the Barbies are given the option to make Barbieland have true gender equality, but they choose to basically continue with the matriarchy they had going before, and just give the Kens a single minor position in the government. Imo it would have been nice if the Barbies and Kens had gotten real with each other about how they'd both been hurt by patriarchy/matriarchy and decided to create a society where both dolls were able to reach their full potential regardless of whether they were a Barbie or a Ken. I thought that was where the movie was headed, but instead it ended on reverse-sexism-fixes-everything. Smh.
