Amy and Jeremy and the actress playing the young girl were all very good in this. The outdoor cinematography was also very good. The aliens looked interesting but underdeveloped.
All too soon after their first encounter inside things start to turn into a by the numbers 1950s "military wants to destroy the aliens" movie.
The pacing was very slow. This was fine for early part of the movie, but it never sped up, and was too lacking in intellectual stimulation to maintain the slow pace without boredom setting in.
Despite the fine acting of the leads, most of the movie felt very empty, free from any satisfying resolution or any real thought-provoking questions or development.
The concept of the weapon was interesting, but the old "non-linear time" rehash sounds profound, but falls apart at the slightest serious scrutiny.
Some people argue that reviewers who mark this movie down just didn't understand it, suggesting that they themselves did - but they seem to avoid providing explanation to demonstrate their understanding.
