The *only* reason I watched this movie was due to the untimely passing of Chadwick Boseman to see some of his lesser known work. This Joint SUCKED! Big fan of Spike Lee but this movie, Da 5 Bloods 1. UNREALISTIC, if 5 brothers would have buried some gold in Vietnam then, they would have got it back stateside *ASAP* ! Da 5 Bloods? They use to say "Youngblood" back then, Bloods? Is Spike endorsing a street gang? I don't remember brothers talking like that back then, the term was "Youngblood". Lack of depth in characters all except Lindo's character Paul seem to all have a serious lack of depth. Too many short cuts, they should have hired some actual African American Vietnam Veterans and gave them parts also, they should have gotten younger actors to play in the flash back scenes or found younger photos of the main characters, or used younger look-a-likes or at least did a digital enhancement to make them look younger in flash back scenes and not have merely shown 60 year old men fighting in Vietnam ironically 50 60 years ago. For at least some of them to be very real about their actions. They are "stealing gold" from Vietnam in an attempt to escape the poverty of African American life back home, don't sugarcoat it. Let someone be man enough to call it just like it is! My view point. I hate when they show: Italians, Jews, Irish and Greeks making ruthless moves to get ahead and yet they show Negroes that are all ready discriminated against sugarcoat an opportunity.
