My initial review was a 6, I'd probably leave it there to be fair. I enjoy Drake's versatility and sound, even if thematically the album leaves a lot to be desired, but I've just accepted that won't ever be a thing with Drake.
Too many songs, no theme to the album. With that said, the songs I DO like have really grown on me 3 out of 23 songs; the features on the album were not as impressive as Drake’s classics were. The only songs that go on my playlist are First Person Shooter (feat.J Cole), 8am in Charlotte and Away From Home. I’ve now accepted that most Drakes aren't for me anymore. His r&b records don’t hit the same level to me nowadays. The writing seems uninspired and his singing certainly doesn’t make up for it.
I get why he’s the top rapper in the world still, I won’t deny his talent, his recent song in ‘UTOPIA’ was just impressive due to the fact that there was some kind of rhythm and bass in it which suits Drake. It’s just not for me anymore.
