Ultimately disappointing, longlegs had wonderful cinematography and performances, but nothing below the surface. So many themes were vaguely alluded to—parenthood, girlhood, the nuclear family, being genderqueer, etc—and yet the film culminated in nothing in particular. I wish there was more of a payoff to what the apparent themes were, and the effect was that of an admittedly creepy film that ends with a letdown.
