I never put on makeup or even remotely understood the world of make up. But then I watched one episode of this show and magically two weeks later finished every season of Glam Up. It definitely got the message across that makeup encompasses far more than what I previously thought. I realized I had dabbled in makeup; using prosthetic cuts and fake blood on my face for Halloween, placing glitter and stickers in symmetrical ways on my face during my raver years, and applying copious amounts of cheap makeup on my pasty face for a music video shoot which is so embarrassing to watch now, but not because of the makeup.
The quality of this show ticks a lot of boxes beyond its main genre. I think the show's vision of conceptualizing makeup is as grand as lessons on morality, inclusivity, diversity, suffering, introspection, determination and positivity, which weave seamlessly throughout the episodes. This is definitely a family friendly show, and one that is very sensitive and in-tune with people who fight adversity.
Lastly, I'm fascinated with Val. Watching her on this show makes me wish I could work for her. Wouldn't you want a boss like her?
