Season 1 of the animated show was roughly 10 hours, while this live-action one lasted 8 hours. This adaptation explores a better back story for Zuko and loses on some memorable moments from the original. What a great show, especially as an enhancement and follow-up to the original. I see this as a companion to the original, some mention it as a multiverse, where this is just a different universe. It has its similarities and brings in new takes. The animated show's bending, world, and characters are brought to life almost to perfection.
