Brilliant film,Steiger really earned his Academy Award

This film is a real tribute to the late Carl Sagan whose book of the same name enthralled me. The key philosophical debate about faith in one's belief and experiences is very pertinent to the modern era. I particularly like the passage which encompasses the whole story:"If we are really alone in the Universe,that's an awful lot of wasted space!" A really great film with great acting.
