Douglas Russell

A great find on Netflix. Really very funny old fashioned comedy drama with excellent cast and interesting direction and camera / editing. It should be judged as of its time and in tradition of gentle social parody. It lacks intergenerational dynamic and can lapse into stereotype at times but it is full of zippy one-liners delivered at speed by a very accomplished cast with great timing. Not quite up to Gavin and Stacey, but has echoes of it. No crime, no gritty urban realism, no shock horror, just gentle mickey take of people of a certain age.
