I would like nothing more than to like this game, but in terms of how baseball works, it's absolute garbage. Fielders alternate between smooth and nice animations that have been in the series for years into sluggish and choppy movements on a routine ground ball to then take just long enough in their throwing animation for the batter to beat the ball to first. Pitchers will strike out 17 hitters in a game and be in the midst of a no-hitter to have low confidence and despite a perfect player input to spot your pitch, it'll be placed right down the middle and your opponent pushed square sometime between the start of your windup and the catcher getting the ball so it must go 465 feet for a player who in their career has 1 home run. Don't bother with trying to hit using the plate coverage indicator and zone batting because if you time your swing properly and get the indicator to the sweet spot, 9 out of 10 times it will result in weak contact and an out. The game plays more like there's an unseen force in the background that's pre-determined which player will win, making sure every mistimed swing and mistake for them results in success, but every well-done aspect for the other player results is an absolute failure. Boycott the series entirely because it's absolute hot garbage.
