Disney Pixar has once again delivered a movie where the main Black character is turned into something inhuman and has to be saved... I'm over it.
Aside from that the humor in this movie is very dry and so was the writing. It was missing the spark that other Disney movies have where no matter how many times you watch it, it's still funny, still emotionally provoking. Soul is worth watching once but DEFINITELY not twice and what's worse is it's a movie centered around Jazz but that wasn't really featured? Lol.
They could've taken a completely different angle and took a long walk down the long rich history of Jazz and it's musicians. It would've been marvelous to illustrate the impact it's had and discussed it's influence on the lives of black folk and American history but noooo... Instead poor helpless Joe needs to be redeemed so he can finally live. No thanks, Disney.
