First of all comparing this movie only to A Quiet Place is useless. Compare this movie to any and all other movies and it fails miserably. It's not riveting, gripping, suspenseful at all. Sandra Bullock plays a tough Mama Bear but the kids are frozen with fear they never whine, cry ask for the pitty or for food after at least two days! The violence in this movie gives this an R rating but it was merely an effort to keep blood thirsty viewers content.

This movie was interesting to watch. The love between this father and daughter was undeniable. When they are found and put into a home you can feel the father's awkwardness to the constraints and boxed in feelings both physically and mentally. You also see the daughter's reactions but in a different way. The movie doesn't push the father's military history in your face but it was obvious to me that his issues and rationale stem from it. I found it heartbreaking. The "friends" they encounter along the way we're the salt of the earth. If it weren't for these people, living as they did this story could have ended in other ways. Definitely worth watching more than once.
