The last season was great and the only thing that wasn't interesting was actually Sheldon and his stupid remarks.
The rest of the show, the characters, the action, the actors, everything can be in fact considered GOLD and the foundation for a new show, where Sheldon is away...
It would be fun to see what will happen with each of these Texas people.
