So, I am a huge fan of the DiRT Rally series. That said, I just upgraded from a G923 to a Fanatec direct drive wheel. Because of this, switching between my PS5 and PS4 is a giant pain in the a%*, as I need to move connections in my loadcell brake pedal, meaning I have to take the pedals off my rig...blah, blah, blah... After WRC 8, I vowed I would never buy a KT Racing title again, as I thought that was terrible. At least the way the cars handled. The FFB was almost non existent. The graphics were terrible. It just wasn't any good.
Anyway, since I was jonesing from some rally on my PS5, I bit the bullet and bought WRC 10. I think my wheel has a lot to do with it, but it "feels" much better than any KT Racing title I've played before. But, all of the cars handle the same. Doesn't matter if it's FWD, RWD or AWD, they handle the same, which is disappointing. The graphics are okay...but it doesn't look like a PS5 title. As per usual, the actual driving isn't up to par with other available titles, but it IS much better than it used to be. That said, this isn't simulation. Once you get the "feel" you can go WAY faster than you should be able to...and the pace notes are not good. They're not terrible, but there's a lot of room for improvement.
The only reason why I gave it 3 stars is the career mode structure, which is really good and the stage design is really fantastic. I mean, really, really fantastic. I only hope that when Codemasters takes over, we can drive these stages with DiRT physics and realism. I will say this, it's much better than it was. I will give it that.
But, considering that the realism and physics are vastly superior in DiRT Rally 2.0, I am considering taking my pedals off my rig and putting my wheel back on the PS4 so I can get back to actual rally racing.
