I loved it.
We don't know a lot about this guy, other than that he dies young, alone and with such a huge body of work that the ending may only be complex. Morse shows exactly what you need to become a Holmesian detective in the most transformative era in our times: Everything. He doesn't get the girl, the money, respect or friendship, and he's tied into this city, his alma mater and destined to be so all his life. He has no family and all his interests are a dying art. Endeavour is the single greatest coming together of with the gentlemen detectives with the hard boiled pulp ones in a classical city raging against the winds of positive change. The modern 43 minute script riding procedurals have more jokes and colors and happier resolutions, but this series I'll remember as long as I live and I'm Gen Z.
