Ghoul or Ghul is not a fascinating watch as a horrow series. When a horror series tries to pack in as much subliminal messages into such a small run it ends up not only confusing it's primary goal it also ends up making a mince meat of the other goals.
The pace of the series is nice, the actors are doing a fine job. Let's take some time to appreciate Ratnabali Bhattacharjee, Mahesh Balraj, Manav Kaul and Radhika Apte in this exact order. Also, let's be happy that we now know a new horror word "Ghoul" and let us be content with that.
Although, one should not compare but comparison does come in and this is the weakest of the Netflix series for India yet. This may ride on hype and get it's fair share of accolades that directors, and actors are now getting a chance to flex their muscles.
However, let us surmise by saying that people who have been brought up with horror classics or even Hitchcock thrillers will yawn at some point or the other, fast forwarding into this already brief series. But then again, people who have seen Bhatt, Ramsay and RGV will look at it with rapt attention and come out of this experience with nothing but praises.
