The Eagles of the Empire series is my personal favourite series in the genre. The mix of history/plot/humour that Simon mixes in every book makes them very hard to put down, even at 2am. Cato and Macro are superb characters and stride the Roman world with adventures blended into historical events. I must finish now as 'Death to the Emperor' has just landed, see you in a couple of days.

This book changed my life, it's an essential read for anyone studying Marx, far left politics and/or philosophy. It opened my eyes to what anarchy is and the various paths its supporters followed, some of them dying for their beliefs so that you could be free. R.I.P. Mikhail Bakunin, a giant in every sense.
