I loved the visuals, plot, characters and overall production but found it confusing. It’s a very abstract film, something you’d find in a modern art exhibition (especially during the birthday party scene)
It is also relatable in a way how Owen doesn’t understand who he is yet but knows he’s different.
The ending didn’t give much closure to me, it makes sense than Owen is a trans woman running from his innate desire to be Isabel his whole life, but I wish there was a bit more evidence for a more concrete theme.
I was prepared for what type of movie it was but I’m ngl I thought maddy was schizophrenic or something. It seems more in line with themes of escapism, the boredom of life, and seeking more through pretending to be someone else. Which doesn’t add up if it’s a film hinting at Owen being transgender (if anything it should be the opposite of escapism)
All in all, Very cool movie. I love the old cameras and analog horror aspect, reminds me of stranger things in a way.
the movie was also very low exposure, it was hard to make out expressions through shadows.
