An Indian adaptation of an Israeli series, this show on Hotstar is about a family held hostage by using a gang.
Will you kill a man to keep your family? If yes, are you taking a life or saving one? Hostages, now streaming on Hotstar, is produced through Applause Entertainment and Banijay Asia productions and directed by way of Sudhir Mishra.
It looks like just another dysfunctional yet regular day for the household in their beautiful home when a team of masked men spoil in and take them hostage.
The stakes are excessive, and the household is understandably terrified, attempting to find ways to escape.
While it receives off to an extraordinary begin and has a dramatic climax, the place the stakes get undoubtedly high, the tempo slackens significantly as the family and hostage-takers wait for the minister's operation.
It appears a bit unnatural to see the family having whispered conversations about break out plans while the hostage-takers linger in the same room.
Two of their captors, who are a couple, even find time to get intimate while they are supposed to be watching the family! What also seems a bit hard to digest is how effortlessly the household participants begin manipulating their captors, given none of them have been in a comparable situation before.
The exhibit is an adaptation, so while the story possibly couldn't be modified, it would have benefitted immensely from sharper cinematography and tighter editing.
Of the cast, Ronit Bose Roy and Tisca Chopra put in regular performances, specifically Chopra who seems extra adept at restraint than Roy who can start searching a little blank while attempting to underplay.
The exhibit is a perfect one-time watch; mainly if you haven't seen the unique Israeli series or the American series, however, while it can capture your attention, it may no longer hold you captive throughout.
