Suri is too manipulative to be the protagonist, you can't justify her not telling the truth by saying that ''It was the better choice for the children'' a better choice would be not manipulating them and telling the truth instead of letting them get let down when they are tall enough or someone spills the beans (or what was more realistic) asked where the smoke came from.
