Disappearance at Clifton Hill (Netflix): this movie will leave you with a ton of questions so I’m just letting you in on the plot (scroll to my last sentence if you don’t want
to read all this)
Title sequence…fast fwd…opening song…fast fwd…Abby as a little girl carrying a fish in a bucket…fast fwd…Abby sees a…fast fwd
…get to the part where 25 years later, Abby thinks Alex may be alive and that his parents (the Tiger Magician Moulins), almost killed him 25 years ago, but the only witness she has is their assistant, Bev’s husband whose comments make Abby redirect her suspicions to Charlie (this rich guy about town and is he a pedo?)🤔
As the movie wanders off course so does Abby’s certainty when she realizes that Alex is not dead!!! What😳? or is he? Reality blurs, and we discover Abbys a pathological liar.
Abby keeps snooping and claims to anyone who will listen that 25 years ago, The Tiger Magician Moulins tried to make their timid young son, Alex, a Tiger magician, and after Alex was mauled by a tiger and lost one eye, he tried to run away, bc he was sure he’d have to get in front of a tiger when his scratches and eye healed.
Abby says Bev had taken pictures of Alex’s tiger wounds, and then blackmailed Alex’s parents (the Moulins) for a ton of money which Bev turned around and blew at a casino - at some point Abby suspects Charlie (the rich guy about town) intercepted Bev & kidnapped Alex, had his way with Alex, then killed Alex. (Jump fwd 25 years). As a result of Abbys claim, Charlie is arrested.
Immediately after the arrest, Alex, 25 years older, comes back to town, and checks into Abby’s motel. Alex saw the headline in the paper and has returned to ‘come clean’ about everything and to free Charlie (who turns out to be a good guy), bc the truth is, Charlie rescued Alex from Bev, hid Alex hoping everyone would think Alex was dead so Alex wouldnt have to live with his parents and become a tiger magician and risk getting mauled again, and the case is finally solved.
Which reminds me…Wheres Carol Baskins Husband?
