A medieval movie that actually feels medieval? more likely than you think. This was a story that was brilliant in the way it deviated from the poem, while still teaching the same importance of not running from death and sticking to your word. The old moral was just adapted into a story that better fit a modern audience. I liked that it kept the horny energy of the poem too. Like, y'all don't understand, I read it aloud in a livestream for friends and realized halfway through that I was really glad that the younger folk didn't understand middle english because it was HORNY.
The score was beautiful, blending both medieval and modern music into one that was eerie and overpowering at times.
One critique is that the voice of the Green Knight is really hard to understand with auditory processing issues, and the only reason I really knew what he was saying is because I know the poem well.
