I think they tried but it fell flat... The casting just wasnt right and the plot was just blahhh. First the casting, honestly Michael B and Jodie Turner Smith was not right for this role. I think someone like John David Washington or Daniel Kaluuya would have been great for this role to bring it the intensity and drama it needed. I think Michael B Jordan lacked depth and just didnt convince me that he was some great soldier that the gov wanted dead. Even when he was getting revenge, I didnt feel anything for him. It's almost like i was just watching it to watch it. Jodie Turner just didn't do it for me either. No matter how hard they tried to make her look hard by shaving her hair and giving her that scar, I wasnt convinced.. She was just too soft for this role and didnt give it the substance it needed. Her facial expressions were mundane, almost like she really didnt care what was going on. I think Lupita Nyung'o or Danai Gurira would have been better because they have more experience with action films. As far as the plot and overall story goes, it didnt feel complete. I felt like it was lack luster and didnt give the performance that weve been waiting years for.

Im giving this movie 2 stars because one star is too harsh (It's better than Paradise Hills). Here's why: I was intrigued for the first half and I actually got scared. The plot wasn't the worst, the acting wasn't the worst, the writing was okay, and the message was obvious. Here's why I gave it 2 stars though. There are way too many holes in the plot! How did the girl that was partially blind know all those things? Unless someone told her it's impossible to know that much info. How did they get the kids? Who funded them and whats the story there? Whats going on outside? It would have been better if they showed outside scenes of women stressing about how they looked. The ending got so sloppy and fell flat because it was too simple almost. I wasn't scared anymore and it got a little predictable... I think it could have been much more sinister and thrilling with better acting and more intense camera angles. The score could have also been a little better too when they revealed what was really going on. It started great but the middle to the end was just..?

I gave it 3 stars because it wasn't the worst movie. The concept isn't really original but it was entertaining at least. The plot was kinda like... okay where is this going but the message about being oppressed, outcasted, and survival was there. It just didnt come together how I wanted. I wish there was more rising action and more drama. The ending could have been better too because I was kinda lost.

I gave this movie 2/5 stars because it wasn't terrible. The plot isn't original and has many holes in it but it was suspenseful and the acting was good. What I can say though is that I think it was a low-budget movie and there are way too many questions left unanswered-- like most films that Robbie stars in. What are scrips? Who are the torus/bloc? Why is there a war? Why is Ren the only one that seems to be doing okay, if everyone else is struggling? If there's just a time-loop for them, what does that mean for the rest of the world?
