In the library its catchy book cover and its riveting title attracted me in such an extent that immediately a gut intense was tempting me to give the book a chance. Though this was not the first time I judged a book by its cover but this time it’s worth it.
The Girl in the Ice is a thrilling crime fiction by Robert Bryndza a British best-selling author who in addition to writing crime fictions is well known for his best-selling series of romantic comedy novels.
The Girl In The Ice is the story of a young, charming and wealthy socialite Andrea Douglas Brown whose corpse was found frozen beneath a thick layer of ice by a passer-by in disused boating lake in South London. The Detective Erika Foster is assigned the case to heading the investigation. What makes this page-turning thriller outstanding for me is the fact that unlike most thriller genres where males take the lead in a murder investigation this is a book with a female lead detective Erika Foster, who is Smart, passionate, fearless with a strong sense of justice, driven by her undeniable determination to find the murderer whatever it costs.
Since Douglas Brown is an influential family, a special attention is given to this case by police and media and Erika’s responsibility is to find the killer as soon as possible. In her quest to find the murderer Erika encounters plenty of obstacles, many twists and turns and as she digs deeper into victim’s past, she discovers Andrea’s dark secrets with which she was buried. Definitely I do not intend to spoil it by revealing the secrets here, I prefer you find them yourself for maintaining the reading excitement.
The Girl In The Ice took me on an adventure I have never experienced before. I got excited experienced fear, heart racing and sometimes through the book I found my self struggling to solve the mystery along with protagonist as there are more than one potential killer presented by the story.
The Girl In The Ice is an absolute perfection, insightful and will keep you hooked until the very end. And if you are a crime fanatic like me than it is an absolute must read book for you all with an unexpected ending that will totally blow you away. This author is now on my must-read list. I look forward to read the next five books in the series.
Happy reading
