Just watched the movie and read the comments. Wow, so many people can't seem to sit down, watch a movie, and actually THINK. They expect a movie to blow their minds while having it completely closed. They can't seem to understand eveb the tiniest bit of science (and are complaining that it's inaccurate here, which it isn't, including the part about the species using ammonia as "an oxygen source", which clearly means that instead of using oxygen, they evolved to the point where they were able to metabolize ammonia, making oxygen unnecessary for living, WHICH MAKES YOU THINK ABOUT THAT ENDING SCENE). Science teaches us HOW to think, not WHAT to think, and most people seem to not be able to understand that. As a biologist myself, I find this movie to be astonishing not only because it involves animal, human, and plant evolution/adaptation, but also raises questions about geothermal energy (how they harvest the energy released from Io), questions about how they developed the ships/technology to get to where they were, and what advances the people made in order to get to somewhere 4 1/2 light years away in just 10 years. People can't seem to stand movie endings that only leave them with a shitton of questions. Guess what? Those are the BEST types of movies, because they make you think: how, what, why, what, and where? This movie deserves a 10/10.
