Ugh, I had such high hopes for this game because I loved Until Dawn and the Anthology, but this game just falls short. The story is boring and non interactive for a lot of it. I feel like I’m watching a teen drama with a choice every so often. I find myself being distracted with my phone while the characters drone on, and every so often I get to choose between 2 options without a timer. I really don’t like the curator in between chapters. She feels pointless even when you find her cards. The characters aren’t lovable. but I like most of them besides Ryan. Ryan is the absolute worst character I’ve ever met in these games. He’s so boring and monotonous even with everything happening, and he has such a big role. He definitely brings the experience down for me. The game as a whole looks beautiful, but it’s just a movie with a boring left or right choice every now and then and easy QTE’s. I don’t feel stressed and exhilarated like I did when I played Until Dawn. The hold your breath thing is not as fun and stressful as holding still was. I’m not sure why they changed the recipe so much, but this is the weakest game so far. I love the way it looks though. The characters look good as a whole. Their faces freak me out every now and then, but they look good. I’ll play it more than once to get different pieces to the story, but Until Dawn is superior still.

I love everything about this game except the Pokémon lord battles. They’re clunky and laggy and just outright not fun in my opinion. I’m here for Pokémon battles not me throwing things at Pokémon while I play frogger. Everything else is great. I’m totally happy when I can just run around and catch things freely, but those boss Pokémon are the actual worst. I hope they never implement them into a game again.
