Even if you’re too old to have played Barbies or you never had a daughter who did, the Barbie movie is worth seeing. There’s a lot of grumbling from naysayers who complain about the anti-paternalist message, but pay no attention. It’s a spoof. Barbie is all girls and what all girls aspire to be. A bit slow starting, Barbie quickly becomes FUN. We laughed. Some people cried. The movie is full of one liners and fun references to people living and dead. Barbie’s trip to Mattel headquarters and Will Ferrel’s portrayal of the modern Mattel CEO is priceless. Margot Robbie plays stereotypical Barbie flawlessly. The little ads popping up at odd moments referring to Barbie outfits are delightful. Rhea Pearlman is perfect as Ruth.and the closing line is priceless.
Go see it. You won’t regret it.
