I painstakingly read it until the end with the hope of it getting better. It didn’t. Elements of cheap unnecessary ‘Wokeness’ and a boring dialogue. I’ve read 8 Follet books and have recommended to friends as they’ve been superb. Somehow this and ‘Never’ seems to have lost the brilliance of his past work.
