Ponderous and with a script that fails to deliver authenticity, this is a wasted effort to use the power of film to enlighten its audience to the complexities and challenges that faced Chamberlain, that 'appeasement' may not have been weakness but an unavoidable necessity. The twitchy hand held filming is distracting and the younger characters feel like they are visitors from 2022 who wondered into a period drama. This all adds to the feeling that someone thought this a great idea to make a film of - but could n't be bothered to do the research to get characterisation, dialogue and on screen look authentic to the period. Mediocre.
