It wasn’t a good book because the plot is dependent on billing
When anyone is admitted to inpatient from either the ED or Observation the ED and or Observation is collapsed under the inpatient bill. Therefore, there wouldn’t be separate bills to approve or deny. So, it was hard to wrap my brain around an immediate denied ED visit which then spirals out of control with cost and patient responsibility.
