My husband and I were excited to see that Amazon produced a show based on a film we both adore. What a disappointment! There’s little baseball in the show (and when there is it is computer generated), and a lot of lesbian love. We would have no problem with the subject matter, except that it should be the basis of a completely different show. The inclusion of a featured black character is wonderful, but the story line focus is more on the young woman’s sexuality than on her pitching skills. Again, more lesbian love. The lack of baseball and the constant anachronisms make this show a sorry excuse for a period piece based on a top notch movie.
