This movie is spellbinding!! It is truly heartbreaking and a disgrace!! The acting is phenomenal !! Originally, while watching the movie, I thought it occurred in the 1960s in Alabama. I was shocked that this movie (true story) occurred as recent as 1987!! Well he was sentenced to die in 1987. I feel so sorry for any black person in the south. . Atrocious!!
What is even more disturbing is that this poor man; Walter McMillian (played so eloquently by Michael B. Jordan); who was accused of this heinous crime served in the Vietnam War and was treated like this!! Although this was very typical for people of color serving their country and coming home to be told they had to use separate toilets or could not dine at the same restaurants as white folks.. Repulsive!! You don't treat a human being like that!! I can only empathize with their pain.
To wrap it up, this movie is a tearjerker. It is soo inspirational!! If I think I am having a bad day; I just look at what some people in history have endured. It puts things in perspective. Sometimes, I am truly ashamed to be white.. No person ever deserves this kind of treatment..
I just can't say enough about how great this movie is and the acting is some of the best I've ever seen (truly captivating).I love this guy Michael B. Jordan. I fell in love with him!! I think every American should have to watch this movie; especially if they live in the south!! Truly mesmerizing movie!!! I just hope America learns from these acts that are a stain on the face of humanity. Truly shameful!! You will cry at this one..
