I am writing this review in my opinion!!
The Main thing which I liked about the movie was G V Prakash's Background scores and songs this movie had a lot of scenes in which the bgm felt really rich and it elevates the scene a lot. But There is one thing which I didn't like was Dhanush shouting like hell in killer killer captain Miller song.If Dhanush didn't sing in that song it would have been much better......
The second thing which I liked was the actors performances.Eventhough all the actors didn't get equal screentime like Dhanush but they performed their character very well.It is difficult to shine in a movie where there are monstrous actors like Dhanush but still I liked everyones performances. Every character including Dhanush has like a subtle performance.
Next the story there are three plots and they are interlinked to each other............
**Spoiler**
1st Plot : The people and the temple.
2nd Plot : Dhanush's respect is freedom.
3rd Plot : Freedom struggle and Shivarajkumar.
And also Priyanka mohan's Subplot.
So a good story should have end for all the plots and in this movie
**Spoiler**
1.The jayaprakash character was killed and the people entered the temple.
2. Dhanush gains his respect by helping his people
3.Dhanush and Shivarajkumar Fight the British soldiers Which was like a freedom struggle movement.
So the stroy is complete.
But Since the story follows like a non linear narration it felt like the story was not gripping because since there are three plots it is necessary that there should be some strong link between the characters in the three plots but the movie didn't convey this properly and fully .......
Next the things which I didn't like...................
The action sequences were choreographed properly to the story In the first half but the second half was a huge disappointment Every director in Indian cinema is thinking that Having a big machine gun means that it will make the characters look badass but It's not the case even with pistols you can make a character look badass ( John Wick). It all started with lokesh kanagaraj in Kaithi and the trend is still following now every time when we see a scene where the actor holding a huge gun and shooting like hundreds of bullets ( in slowmo 😵💫) it feel like choking us... Even in Vikram it didn't work well.
Except some fight scenes the second half had only machine gun scenes ( 😵💫 ) and the climax action sequence it felt like repetitive and unwanted if they cut out the final fight it would have been a better lead for part 2 .
The movie had actors with great potential like Niveditha Sathish,Sundeep kishan, Jayaprakash but they didn't get much screen time and dialogues.
The character played by kaali venkat was just an asset character he is just used to move a scene except that he didn't have any role and if they take out his character the jayaprakash character would have got a much better recognition. And Elango Kumaravel was just a narrator even though he had more screen time.
Even Shivarajkumar felt like a bit wasted and was just used create a commercial theatre response.
So overall it's an one time watchable movie I would give a 3.5 out of 5. the rating is mainly for the story and especially first half....But also you should know that the film is a serious movie and has more violence it does not have any scenes which are enjoyable the movie does not deviate in anyway in its path( and does not have song in which the hero dance with heroine). So if you want a more entertaining movie and if you want to enjoy Watch Ayalan 👽.
