Hazel Durrant – Google

I love Elizabeth Moss, great actress and main reason for watching this film. It doesn't work as a Sci Fi nor thriller because it's poorly written. Far from nuanced it plays like a straight to Dvd, workaday production. Using Moss as a draw because she's bankable. 2nd and 3rd acts just fizzled out to nothing. Frustrating protagonist and in the end, I could not careless whether she lived or died. Please don't waste your money streaming this turkey.

What started with a great premise just descended into a thankless unrelenting narrative about greed that had no reason why - Where was the back story? The emotional push and pull wasn't there, so there was no investment in the unlikeable characters, which were everyone. The film dragged in places and the story arc, for each of the protagonists, did not make sense and became ridiculous and farfetched. The ending was totally unsatisfying and the film, at 2 hours, was too long. Rosamund Pike, Dianne Weist and Eiza Gonzalez were great to watch though.

This is the first post covid-19 film I've seen and I was a little disappointed. Sound was poor, impacting on the storytelling. Apart from Elizabeth Dibeck and Kenneth Branagh, the players were too poorly drawn, especially Robert Pattinson's role. Just saw him in The Lighthouse, what a contrast. So instead of intrigue there was confusion, and rather than tension there was a series of vignettes that weren't cohesive. It's a shame as the cast was stellar. Don't get me wrong, there would be worse choices for a first cinematic outing. It's not as clever or satisfying as the hype promised it would be.
