Kelly Chapman

A story about sexual assault in a time when women had no sovereignty whatsoever. I love a good period movie - Matt Damon with a mullet and Ben Affleck camp and blonde added to my enjoyment. With all the production value of a big budget film and great performances, and despite sometimes repetitive retelling of the same events, it’s an easy watch.

It looks great and the acting is great but nothing happens and there is no heart. If you want to see good actors in beautifully designed sets do very little, very slowly… this is your show.

Tedious and pretentious. Sad because I’ve loved his other work.

The message is great… but the execution of its delivery was bloated and disjointed. The cinematography is beautiful. Blanchett’s character is inconsistent and discombobulated. The new boy is an incredible new talent. Overall the film is ill-conceived and not realised fully.
