I'll say this. I was entertained. In truth I've watched a lot of bad movies that kept me entertained. I watched the original "The Crow" when I was 13. Today I would still hold it in my top 10 movies. This movie was something else. I'm not much for un-needed sequels but I tend to give re-boots a chance. The problem I had wasn't that this was a bad movie, it was just so far removed from the original story. The soundtrack was awful but the film itself was decent. However it was a really different story. Not an origin story. A completely different story. Honestly this was more a bad sequel to the "A Girl With the Dragon Tattoo", meets "John Wick". It would have been better to just drop the "The Crow" franchise from the title. That honestly would have improved my interest in the film. With all that being said, the story was ok. Cinematography and choreography was excellent. It was certainly a different kind of dark from the original but it did have the dark gritty ambiance expected in a movie like the original. The actors fit the parts well. Bringing Danny Huston in was a good move. I would recommend watching it, but I wouldn't expect any original "The Crow" fan to appreciate it as an origin story.
