I found myself skipping through the very first episode more than once. It's terrible and not in a "so bad I want to see what happens next..." kind of way. It's truly awful. Take every poorly written musical and typical high school movie cliche, sprinkle a little drama on it, and you have the first episode. The lead actress is selfish and hypocritical, quickly becomes annoying and very burdensome. By the end of episode 1, I wanted to kick her out of her own band. I kept wishing her bandmates would replace her and move on. At a very important audition, she refused to sing and even made the statement "I'm all alone", causing the band to be eliminated. She sang with no problem when she saw the guy she liked (a guy she'd heard sing only once before and then ran from her) leaving the building. If you're not going to participate with your band; don't participate at all... She never apologizes to her friends and the guy, she chases down, only wants to deal with her because he doesn't want his song leaked. He lies to her and she is elated to be deceived into thinking he actually likes her. This show isn't empowering. It places selfish unrequited fantasy over teamwork, friendship., and real love.
