a very impressive, entrancing, disturbing, and creatively original film!
it immediately pulled me in with its unique visual style and intriguing premise.
it almost struck me as an art-house film at times with how creatively brave and visually expressive it was. Where it was different from most art-house films was how well balanced within the narrative and by the dialouge those more abstract and unconventional shots and scenes were. which is usually where so many creative artsy films tend to fail by over indulging.
so that was very refreshing, and it made the darkness, ugly, and fear stand out all the more effectively for me.
I highly recommend this film to horror fans. it's intelligent but not to pretentious or difficult to understand. it has layers and mystery, but no serious plot holes that I noticed so far... it was almost a masterpiece to me. (only seen it 1 time, last night, but i can't stop thinking about it.) I also can't really think of anything negative to criticise it for. it was very effective, fun, and thought provoking. I'm really excited to check out more Brandon Cronenberg films.
