It is a stunning series which depicts Rome as it was in the 78 ad. I have an A level in Ancient History. The events staged in Circus Maximus were nearly too accurate, for example, the flooding of the arena. One review I read on this forum was scathing. I want to ask them what part of the historical drama they do not get. To compare ancient Rome with our way of life in 2023, I'm afraid they missed the film's point and the master class in acting from Sir Anthony Hopkins.
