I convinced my two grownup sons to come with me to this movie because I wanted them to see not only where I grew up (Queens) but also where I went to high school. I had heard that it was filmed at Christ the King in Middle village. Well it may have been filmed there but I couldn’t really tell that it was. High school gyms pretty much look all the same. Lol. AND they changed the name of the school to Glendale High. Now this disappointed me for obvious reasons, but I think it wasn’t a smart decision to have the son attend a public school. An obviously Catholic, Italian-American, financially comfortable family would clearly send their child to a Catholic high school. So that detail wasn’t realistic to me. However, I’m being picky. The rest of the movie is on target—the setting, the family’s behavior, the dialogue, the New Yawk accent, the relationships, everything! This is a solid, beautifully acted, interesting and thought-provoking movie. And both my sons loved it as well. I highly recommend seeing it, even if you’re not from, or living in, Queens!
