SPOILERS
The legend of Korra is as awful as The last airbender is brilliant I know its made by the same creators of ATLA but in my mind I just can't consider this cannon without tainting the original series. The plot and overall direction of the story and some pretty big plot holes are just a few reasons as to why this is a terrible attempt at a sequel. The first book starts off very interesting but ultimately falls short. Amon as a villain is very intimidating when the audience is under the impression that he is a spiritual counterbalance to the avatar. When he is revealed to be a Blood Bender with the still unexplained ability to take away others bending it's becomes a disappointing "gotcha" moment which really feels anti climatic and very meh. Overall the first book wastes more time exploring the trials and tribulations of teen angst and a pointless love interest rather then focusing and building upon the things that made ATLA so amazing.
Book 2 is were I stopped because it honestly just felt insulting as it spits in the face of its predecessor. Soo lion turtles inventing bending this is the first plot hole and really feels like lazy writing. In ATLA it was stated multiple times that the origin of bending was as follows Airbenders learned bending from the flying bison Firebenders from the dragons Earthbenders from the Badger moles and waterbenders from the Moon I feel like this is done just to avoid having to build lore around the original origins of bending and is ultimately just flat out boring. Finally The Avatar state...one of the coolest concepts of the original show. The ability to use the knowledge wisdom and skill of 1000 lifetime's from countless avatars is completely and totally destroyed in a single episode reducing it to nothing more than glowing eyes with the spiritual connection to all of the past avatars including Aang being completely and permanently severed simultaneously making Korra the first and weakest Avatar. The only way this would be at all acceptable is if Korra explored the spiritual world in the next book Finding and learning from the past avatars in order to re-establish the connection which I hear is not the case........ I have to stop here because just thinking about this is making me mad 😂😂😂 ...I would call this show a dumpster fire but that would be an insult to dumpster fire because at least they destroy garbage instead of sh*ting on peoples childhood while using nostalgia as a cash grab.
