The sci-fi storyline is interesting, but the rest of the writing is lazy. For example, anytime there are two characters alone together they are always drinking alcohol and acting super smug, either in an office or at a bar. James Holden, the entitled white "hero" of the show, is condescending AF to all other characters and assumes that using his "big boy" voice and a stern look will get him whatever he wants. Being white and male on this show, it always does. His line about the "Native Americans not being able to see European ships" when they invaded the Americas was awful and racist.
